Jennifer Whatley

M.Ed., NCC, ALC

About Jennifer

Jennifer Whatley, M.Ed., NCC, ALC is a graduate of the University of Montevallo with a master’s in

education in School Counseling. She is also a National Certified Counselor and an Associate Licensed

Counselor. Jennifer has a wide array of experience working with children and adolescents. Prior to

becoming a counselor, she served as a mental health case manager for children and adolescents in

Georgia. Jennifer has served as a paraprofessional and case manager for students in self-contained

special education in Georgia and was a special education aide here in Birmingham at a private Mother’s

Day Out program. She has over 20 years of professional and personal experience as an advocate for

students with learning disabilities. Her most recent experience has been working with families residing

in a domestic violence shelter. This experience included trauma counseling, grief counseling, play

therapy, psycho-education, and crisis intervention. Jennifer is also currently pursuing the Registered Play

Therapist credential. Working with children is her passion. She is under the supervision of Dr. James L.

Jackson, LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC.

Jennifer currently accepts Medicaid and cash-pay.
